Gleichzeitig wirkte er als Stadt- und Spitalarzt. Von herausragendem historischen Wert ist sein vielzitiertes Tagebuch (hrsg. von Valentin Lötscher, Basel/Stuttgart 1976), ferner seine <i>Beschreibung der Stadt Basel</i> und sein <i>Pestbericht</i> (hrsg. von V. Lötscher [Basler Chroniken, 11], Basel 1987). </br> Croll ließ P. 1593 grüßen und für die ihm erwiesenen Freundlichkeiten danken. | |||
